Why do some skinny girls don't ever get stretch marks after pregnancy?

When I see skinny celebrities or models on tv who just had a baby, why don’t they ever get stretch marks? I know that they have lots and lots of money but how do you prevent getting stretch marks? Do we need to soak our stomach and thighs with lotion and stuff? I’m so jealous lol

  1. Cocoa butter from The Body Shop! I SWEAR by it. I got to be SOOO big with my little guy, and I didn’t have a single stretch mark. Use it in the morning and before bed, and you’re golden.
    Best of luck!!

  2. you cant. you help them be lighter though. dont forget that not everyone gets them. if your mom has them then you prob will. i didnt even kno i had any until my baby was born. but vitamin e oil and cocoa butter help when your skin starts to itch and burn. good luck.

ps dont scratch when it itches this can cause stretch marks to get worse!!!

  3. I know me to, But the question is did your mom get them. If she did then you probably will to. Also watch your wait. If you get big fast and put on allot of weight quick your chances go up. I am 36 weeks now and I thought I would get them so bad. But I don’t have one yet (keep my fingers crossed) but I’ve only put 17 pounds to.

    Good Luck

  4. palmers cocoa butter is AWESOME! u can get it at walgreens. check it out. i have a 3yr old and no stretch marks. put it on everyday. i put it on twice a day just to be safe.

  5. Massaged my tummy, breasts, hips and thighs with cocoa butter after every shower. Try not to gain too much weight too suddenly.

  6. 1. start using Palmer’s and bio oil now. The earlier you start the better. I use the bio oil after taking a shower and the Palmer’s lotion before going to bed or before getting dressed in the morning. Make sure you put them on hips, thighs and breast too. I made that mistake the first time =/

    2. eat healthy. do not over eat just because your pregnant, stick with eating when your hungry. If you gain weight to fast that will increase your risk for stretch marks as well.

The lotions DO work. Stretch marks run horribly in my family and with my first child I had so few of them you couldn’t even tell i had a child a year later.

  7. Bio-Oil…I swear by the stuff. I never got one stretch mark with my daughter and I am using it again with this second pregnancy.

Another thing is to watch how quickly you gain weight. I’m not talking about dieting or anything like that. Just remember that "eating for two" only means eating the equivalent to one extra slice of toast a day.

  8. Nothing. If you are pre-disposed to have them, you will. The women who don’t have them were pre-disposed to NOT have them. No lotion or oil will help.

EDIT: If there WAS a way to prevent them don’t you think ALL pregnant women would have no stretchmarks?

  9. I am with you on that one. I’m six weeks pregnant and am terrified of getting stretch marks. I posted a similar question and got dumb answers from women saying to think of them as your battle scars and all that matters is you and baby are healthy, and while I agree with the second it still did nothing to help. So here are some things I have found out, Palmer’s coco butter lotion, Bio oil, Curel pregnancy and motherhood lotion. Make sure you use something at least twice a day, ive been using the Curel lotion and bio oil. I hope this helps ( both of us :)

  10. I am 34 weeks and have been using vaseline cocoa butter twice a day and have no strech marks yet, although I hear they can show up in the last few weeks. I have gained over 20 pounds so far. Good luck!

  11. I always double up with oil & lotion when I get out of the shower I literally use olive oil (that is used for cooking) or cocoa butter oil whilst I’m a bit damp from the shower (all over, from tip to toe) and as I’m beginning to dry off i either put cocoa butter, or cocoa butter for stretch marks lotion on (again, tip to toe)

I dont care what anyone says, my skin feels like butter and I havent gotten 1 mark I swear by it Maybe my mother didnt get marks because she cared for her skin as religously as I do

And as you already know, dont put on a ton of weight quickly & keep your insides hydrated with water fruits and yummy veggies

  12. Since stretch marks occur when skin is stretched to the limit of its elasticity – it follows that the best prevention is either to reduce the cause of stretching or to increase elasticity (or both).

    Increase your Skin’s Elasticity

    * Skin Creams and Lotions – Lotions containing cocoa butter are rumored to not only help reduce stretch marks, but to help prevent them entirely. Any cream or oil that is made specifically for the prevention or treatment of stretch marks will help keep your skin healthy and elastic. If you are pregnant or breast feeding consult your doctor first as lotions can contain ingredients that may be passed to your unborn baby or into breast milk.
    * Vitamin A, E & C – Supplementing these vitamins may help increase the strength and elasticity of the collagen within your skin and reducing your chance of forming stretch marks.
    * Stay hydrated. Every try to squeeze a dry sponge?

  13. A large percentage of pregnant women get stretch marks on their stomach, and more than 75% of women develop stretch marks around the waist, stomach, upper legs, butt and breast during pregnancy. However, even though there are creams to help these stretch marks, pregnant women are advised against using them. These creams have a high vitamin A content, which can really affect a developing fetus.

There are many ways you can help yourself avoid pregnancy stretch marks. Wear a good support bra to avoid stretch marks on your breasts. Use a body brush to massage the areas where you want to avoid getting stretch marks. The reason stretch marks appear during pregnancy is because of the rapid weight gain some women go through, therefore if you try to avoid gaining too much weight you may be able to avoid stretch marks altogether.
