Does anyone recommend anything particular for stretch marks after baby?

I have stretch marks EVERYWHERE from my pregnancy. I have only gained about 30 lbs. and I’m full term now, and the weight gain was very gradual. I was even using cocoa butter to help prevent so many, but DIDNT work!!! So, I’m gonna have to focus on removal of stretch marks after the baby, so does anyone have experience with creams that have actually worked?

  1. Okay so yea I used it but not through my whole pregnancy.

I used PURE VITAMIN E OIL that can be bought at henrys for around 12 bucks.

Your skin needs vitamin e, hair and nails need other things but not needed through pregnancy.

I used it and havent got one sretch mark on my tummy:]]
Stretch marks are caused by rapid growing skin.

In other words as long as you dont gain a big portion of weight in a little period of time you should be okay.

If you do get them without gaining alot of weight its cuz the baby is growning at a rapid pace!

    GOOD LUCK MAMAS:]]

  2. I used Eucerin because it is really moist and I did not get a single stretch mark, but in the end it all comes down to genetics. If stretch marks are going to happen, they are going to happen, despite using cocoa butter or not.

  3. From what I know it is 100% gentics.
Unfourtuanlly my mothers stomach looks like a road map after having three children.
I am 15 weeks and havent used coco butter yet but am hoping to get some within a week or two, just for mostiureizing purposes.

  4. girl, i used it every single day at least twice a day and i still got them
    =[
i guess it depends on the skintype

  5. Do you have to use cocoa butter or can you use just anything that moisturizes? I’ve been using baby oil

  6. it totally depends on genetics. i used palmers as well. everyday if not twice a day sometimes and i still got stretch marks, thankfully just not on my stomach, so i asked my doctor and he said nothing can really prevent you from getting stretch marks. it is due to genetics.

  7. I apply it every other day (after I shower). It doesn’t matter how much lotion you use… it’s genetic. If your mom, auntsm grandma had stretchmarks- you’re likely to get them. I use the lotion since it seems to help with the itching I get… since the skin is stretching it tends to itch so the lotion helps with that.

  8. I ahrdly ever put lotion on. Even when I was pregnant and I really didnt get any stretch marks. On theother hand my cousins gf did this religiously and put other stuff on and she got a lot of stretch marks :o (. I think it all has to do with your bodies elasticity. My mom didnt get any stretch marks and she had 3 kids. She never went full term either though. I am now pregnant with my second and I hope I run the same luck as I did with my 1st. Now I am putting lotion on, who knows. I am just trying to take better care of myself this time around. I am young and I want to remain looking young if I can help it at all. I do, and did drink a ton of water duing my pregnancy and I continue to do so. Keeping your body hydrated is very important :o )

  9. You are absolutely correct that whether or not you will get stretchmarks are determined by genetics.

Having said that – if there’s an eentsy-teensy-weensy bit of hope, do it! I do it every night, even though I know it won’t help, it makes me feel better! I used Palmers for my first and never got stretch marks, With this pregnancy, I’ve been using some body butter by Crabtree and Evelyn with vitamin E and no stretchmarks so far – but I still have 13 weeks to go!

    Good luck!

  10. You’re wasting your time with Palmers cocoa butter, it contains mineral oil which actually prevents it working to help reduce stretchmarks. Anything that contains mineral oil does this too, i know baby oil is mineral oil based.

Nothing makes them disappear or stops them appearing, but lotions and creams will help reduce the redness and colour in them. I’ve been using Bio-oil, i find that works a treat and now my stretchmarks aren’t that noticable.

If yours are really bad you could ask your doctor about Retin A, it’s dangerous in pregnancy but it’s fine after it, i think docs only prescribe this when your stretchmarks are really bad and getting you depressed.

Also this stuff here is supposed to be really good for reducing the appearance of stretchmarks – http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product_detail.asp?pid=515

  11. i used it everyday 2 times a day and i still got streach marks i still use it though b/c my streach marks itch all the time but i really is all genetics.

  12. I use the Vaseline brand cocoa butter lotion, and I haven’t gotten any stretch marks yet
